Tixel i® (pronounced Tixel Eye): An Advanced Treatment for Evaporative Dry Eye

Tixel® is an FDA-cleared device offering a novel approach to treating evaporative dry eye disease caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). MGD is recognized as the leading cause of dry eye cases.

How Tixel® Works:

Powered by proprietary Thermo-Mechanical Action (TMA®) technology, Tixel® delivers controlled, short pulses of heat to the treatment area. This is achieved through a matrix of self-disinfecting titanium pyramids, applied with gentle pressure. Patients are treated three times in one month (every 2 weeks or so) to improve meibomian gland function.

Key Advantages of Tixel®:

  • Efficiency

A Tixel® treatment session is remarkably brief, typically lasting only 2 to 3 minutes for both eyes. This stands in stark contrast to other dry eye treatments, which can take up to an hour and may be associated with discomfort.

  • Proven Effectiveness

The efficacy of Tixel® has been scientifically validated through multiple clinical publications. This includes a robust multi-center study conducted in the USA, with a 6-month follow-up extension, demonstrating its positive outcomes for patients.
  • Established Safety Profile

The underlying Tixel® technology has been successfully utilized in aesthetic applications for several years. Its extensive use in aesthetics, where it. has consistently shown impressive results and a strong safety record, provides a solid foundation for its application in dry eye  treatment. Notably, plastic surgeons observing patients treated with Tixel® for wrinkles, under-eye bags (festooning), and droopy eyelids also reported significant improvements in their patients’ dry eye symptoms.
