Cannon EyeCare (at Market Optical)

About us

Cannon EyeCare is a high end optometry practice that is accepting new patients. We can handle just about any eye issue, but most patients are in for contact lens fittings, a glasses Rx, and/or dry eye management. Run by a husband and wife team from Indiana, this is a true family business. It is our goal to provide the best eye exams in Seattle, and we love working with kids age 5+ who know their letters.

Hoosier Optometrist ?

Both Drs. Mark and Miranda Cannon are from Indiana, and went to Indiana University’s School of Optometry. They moved to Seattle right after graduating from optometry school. Some say folks from the Midwest tend to have a certain kind of personality that makes them easy to get along with. We look forward to meeting you, and do hope you’ll enjoy our Midwestern hospitality. Dr.Mark Cannon and Dr. Miranda Cannon

Dr. Mark J. Cannon, OD

Dr. Mark J. Cannon was raised in Northwest Indiana, very near Chicago. He attended Indiana University in Bloomington and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biology and Psychology.

Between undergrad and optometry school, Dr. Mark worked as a fisheries biologist in Alaska with the National Marine Fisheries Service, as a backpacking guide for troubled teens in Utah, and as a microbiologist at Baxter Pharmaceuticals.

He then attended Indiana University’s School of Optometry. During school, he served on mission trips to Guanajuato, Mexico and started a school cycling team that raised thousands of dollars for charity. He was also honored with a Dean Scholar’s Award that led to years of ophthalmic research while in school.

Dr. Mark J. Cannon has worked in a number of practices since moving to Seattle, and has gravitated toward full scope medical optometry. He spent a year as the staff optometrist in an ophthalmology practice in Kirkland, WA and three years in a 3-doctor medical group practice south of Seattle.

Dr. Miranda Cannon, OD

Dr. Miranda Cannon was born and raised in central Indiana, near Indianapolis. She graduated with honors from Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Dr. Miranda then attended the Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington. For three years in a row, she enjoyed volunteering her services on yearly mission trips to an Indiana University eye clinic in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Dr. Miranda also completed externships in Ocular Disease at two VA hospital systems on the East Coast. Shortly after graduating from optometry school, she moved to Seattle and has been practicing at an optometry clinic at McChord Air Force Base before opening Cannon EyeCare. She is excited that her new office is so much closer to home.

She sees patients at Cannon EyeCare on Mondays and Saturdays and helps by coordinating care and fielding insurance questions on other days. The family’s two Australian Shepherds and two young daughters keep Dr. Miranda busy when she’s not hard at work.
